Gotham Line Work was a personal project undertaken while I was in NYC for the recent New York Surf Film Festival.
With a few days to simply bounce around the city between screenings and with camera and flask in hand - I was captivated by the task of finding beautiful vacancy within a city teeming with millions of people - to appreciate the amazing lines one can find if you simply look down, up, or sideways rather than always just straight ahead.
For me, the juxtaposition of sky and buildings and streets and billboards tells a story without the need for any one of the millions of humans passing by with their ipods + lattes.
In each image I see the beauty of a world mixed with both man-made structures, open space, and silence.
Even in Gotham.
