Desillusion x Andrew Reynolds

To celebrate its tenth year of existence, Desillusion Magazine has chosen to honor the people who have inspired them most this past decade.

After zooming in on snowboarder/musician Trevor Andrew in the first edition, the second of this series of six portraits takes a look at the life of Andrew Reynolds.

This is Andrew is a short video about one of the most influential skateboarders of all times, Andrew Reynolds. Pro for over 15 years now, the man has dedicated his entire life to the skateboarding world, and has done just about everything there is to be done. From the mischief that him and his crew Piss drunk used to get up to, to the DIY creation of Baker skateboard, he never once forgot to be and stay one of the best on a board, which earned him the title of ” the boss” over the years.

Vans x Thalia Surf Shop: RIT Dye Era Classic Boardshort Launch

Vans x RIT | Era Classic

In Vans’ early days, anyone could walk into their local Vans shop and design their own pair of custom shoes from a stock of fabrics, prints, materials and colors.  In modern times, this right of personalization has fallen to the wayside in favor of mass production.  This generic approach, created a backlash in the form of do-it-yourself ethos that defines surfing.  The Vans x RIT|Era Classic shares Vans’ custom culture with a pair of white Era Classic boardshorts as well as four packs of RIT dye (red, blue, yellow and black) and a formula guide – combine that with your own imagination for a one of kind boardshort creation.

Vans by Thalia Surf Shop, adjacent to Thalia’s South Coast Highway store, melds Vans’ heritage with Thalia’s bohemian brand of beach culture in what is Vans’ first ever boutique surf partnership.  The shop showcases a continuously evolving mix of Vans surf footwear and apparel including limited releases in shoes and signature Joel Tudor apparel. Vans by Thalia Surf Shop is located at 911 South Coast Highway in Laguna Beach, CA.

The Fin Studio works with them to pop some wheelies here in the North America.

Desillusion x Nixon // This is Trouble

Dedicated to the life and work of Trevor “Trouble” Andrew, Desillusion magazine x Nixon proudly present the launch of their latest collaboration.

Last fall, Desillusion magazine followed Trevor on a journey around Brooklyn and New York City. The short documentary shows the city, its people, music and art scene out of Trouble’s very own perspective, while sharing his vision of life and the board sports culture. “This is Trouble” captures some unique and intriguing footage of a personality and creative mind, inspired by snowboarding and rock’n’roll.

The movie introduces the 1st issue of Desillusion magazine’s new Guest Editor series to celebrate its 10-year anniversary. Trevor Andrew, who has been part of the Nixon family for many years, will make the debut of this line of six special issues, dedicated to some of the main characters of the board sports, art and music culture that inspired Desillusion magazine for the last decade.

Quiksilver Announces New Mountain Division

When Quiksilver needed an authentic backdrop for their new Mountain Division Collection, coming Fall 2012 ~ our beautifully gritty backyard of Maine was selected. The Fin Studio provided initial location scouting & art direction for the 4-day shoot along the coast of Maine, the mountains of New Hampshire and among the streets of Boston.

With hundreds of miles logged, numerous burly Maine beers, one day-long monsoon to really put the product to the test (passed with flying colors) and one insane island shoot by way of a vintage lobster boat ~ the catalog shoot, led by photographer Mike O’Meally , was a great project to be a part of and we look forward to enticing more left coasters to come right coast for their project which needs an enlightened, authentic and American Outdoor aesthetic.

Thanks for the beers, the rad work and soggy shoes Quik.
